Ukrainian bass Taras Shtonda was born in Kyiv, Ukraine . He graduated from Kyiv conservatory in 1993. Taras Shtonda is soloist of Kyiv Opera from 1992. He received the 1st prize at Maria Callas Grand Prix (Athens ) in 1997, the 2nd Prize at Francisco Vines Contest ( Barcelona ) in 1997, the 1st Prize at Sviridov Competition  ( Russia ) in 2001.  He performes at the stage of Kyiv Opera many principal roles among which Taras Bulba ( Taras Bulba by M. Lysenko), Ramfis ( Aida ), Grande Inquisitore and Philippe ( Don Carlos ), Zaccaria ( Nabucco ), Kochubey ( Mazepa ), Don Basilio ( Barbiere di Siviglia ), Il Commandatore ( Don Giovanni ), Gremin ( Eugene Onegin ) Kochubey ( Mazepa), King Rene ( Iolanta), Prince Igar and Galitsky ( Price Igor), Boris Godunov and Pimen ( Boris Godunov ), Mephistofeles ( Faust by Gounod ).

Ukrainian bass  Taras Shtonda also performes at the stage of Bolshoi Opera in Moscow .

Since 2002  ( when he made his debut as Dossifey " Khovanshchina") Taras Shtonda is also a soloist of the Bolshoi Opera. Taras Shtonda's roles at the stage of the Bolshoi Opera: Boris Godunov, Zaccaria, Dossifey, Ruslan, Kochubey, Prist from "Katerina Ismailova", King Rene and other roles.

Taras Shtonda also performes at the stage of Prague National Theater . He also tours to Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Danmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Brazil with opera performances and concerts.
