Ukrainian bass Taras Shtonda was born in Kyiv, Ukraine . He graduated from Kyiv
conservatory in 1993. Taras Shtonda is soloist of Kyiv Opera from 1992. He received the 1st prize at Maria Callas Grand Prix
(Athens ) in 1997, the 2nd Prize at Francisco Vines Contest ( Barcelona ) in 1997, the 1st Prize at Sviridov Competition
( Russia ) in 2001. He performes at the stage of Kyiv Opera many principal roles among which Taras Bulba ( Taras Bulba
by M. Lysenko), Ramfis ( Aida ), Grande Inquisitore and Philippe ( Don Carlos ), Zaccaria ( Nabucco ), Kochubey ( Mazepa ),
Don Basilio ( Barbiere di Siviglia ), Il Commandatore ( Don Giovanni ), Gremin ( Eugene Onegin ) Kochubey ( Mazepa), King
Rene ( Iolanta), Prince Igar and Galitsky ( Price Igor), Boris Godunov and Pimen ( Boris Godunov ), Mephistofeles ( Faust
by Gounod ).
